Poh's cake with a twist..

Earlier in this blog I made the Orange Chiffon Cake that was presented in one of the ABC shows - the Poh's kitchen. I made it and everyone loved it. Someone asked me to make it this week for her birthday. I twisted it a little with the recipe and added some extra decorations!! I think the cake looked really effective!

Birthday

More shooting stars

A cake for church, something simple and delicious.

Chocolate chip orange muffins with chocolate ganache.

Happy Birthday

Happy 60th birthday cake

My friend asked me if I could make her a birthday cake for her 60th birthday party. How could I say no, really???

She wanted a wild red cake. A cake with A LOT of shooting stars "coming out of the cake" and something simple...

I made the stars out of gum paste and painted them in red and gold, because these two colours are her favourite. Also, I thought the gold would break the red a little. For the wild effect, I added some gold wire decorations and ribbons - just "flying out" of the cake!!

The party was great and lots of 60s music and 60s food - shrimps cocktail, mini burgers, spider, sundae etc. At the end of the night, the cake was well received by everybody. Most of the comments were "THIS CAKE IS WILD AND DELICIOUS"! Wild indeed!!

Happy New Year

Meringue pie

I was invited to a New Year's party (sorry I did not upload this earlier)... Anyway, I made this meringue pie: I layered it with chocolate cream and topped it with fresh strawberries. It was so good. In order to take the cake to the next level, I shaved some white chocolate on top. It was amazing!

Building a rainbow

A rainbow cake challenge!!!

I saw a few rainbow cakes on the internet before and was fascinated by the colour of the cake. It was a friend's daughter 5th birthday. So I decided to make her a cake. Also, I did not have any experience with fondant before, so I thought I would use this opportunity as a practice! So here it is!!

It was a simple sponge cake with lots of colours, decorations with gum paste and lots of love and care!! xo

Everyone loved how the cake looks, but the secret was lied within. It is a rainbow cake, the rainbow gonna turn out ok with even layers of bright colours....

When the cake was cut, I was really nervous (there was high expectation in the air!!) and the kids were so exctied!! When I sliced the cake out.... All I could hear was "Wow" and "Oohhh"... and of course I was on top of the cloud because the colour turned out sooooo good!

More gingerbread houses

Architect who specialises in building gingerbread houses

I built 3 gingerbread houses in 1 week. It was intense but it was FUN!! I love decorating them and the more I make, the more creative I become. I added a chimney on the roof, window in the front with panels, footpath, mushrooms, chocolate rocks etc... it was really colourful!!

Other than the gingerbread house, I made a gingerbread box. I had this idea of putting chocolate truffles in a box as a gift to people, but I thought a normal paper box is kinda boring... so I thought a gingerbread box - to make EVERYTHING edible!!! I made some orange crunchy chocolate truffles (taste like Java, but better I was told), dark chocolate mint truffles and white chocolate apricot truffles to go with the box. It looked amazing and very effective!!
