Lemon Meringue Tart

This year I was very spoilt for my birthday (and Christmas). My family organised a party for me, it was awesome. I celebrated with some of my closed friends and family members. I was spoilt with a lots of gifts as well. One of the gifts is a food processor which I have wanted for ages. For Christmas I received a whisk and blow torch - I don't know how many gadget I can have in my kitchen!!

The first thing I made with the food processor is this lemon meringue tart. I have been wanting to make the meringue tart for a while. With the heat in Queensland and I don't have the luxury to have an air-conditoner in the kitchen, which makes it really hard to make the pasty. With the food processor, within seconds, my pastry is ready!

The lemon curl is easy - with my new metal whisk, a few whisk and twist - viola!!! The fresh smell of lemon is incredible. The meringue part is easy as well, all I can say is, it is so glossy :)

The blow torch is an amazing tool. I love it! Not just making this meringue tart, but I can make my favourite grilled salmon at home!

Be my Valentine!

Happy Valentine's Day

"Be my Valentine 2012"

Few years ago, I decided to create something special on valentine's day. I decided that I would like to do that every year and called them "Be my Valentine". I did not have a valentine, so I thought I would do something special for the people around me. I just wanted to make something special that can represent my love and thoughts for them.

Before I show you what I did in the previous years. I want to show you what I created this year. It was a heart made with profiteroles. I wrote love all over it and painted them with gold and silver. To finish it off, I sprinkled it with red glitters. Those profiteroles were filled with homemade custard cream. I can tell you, everyone was filled with love!! Who wants to "be my valentine" LOL???

"Be my Valentine 2011"

This cake was inspired by the traditional "gateau concorde". This is basically made out of layers of chocolate meringue. I filled it with chocolate cream and fresh strawberries. The acidity of the strawberries just cut nicely through the bitterness of the dark chocolate and the sweetness from the meringue. "c'est delicieux"

"Be my Valentine 2010"

This looks quite amateur compared to the other two... well this was made about 2 years ago... so when I eventually find my special one, it will be perfect ^O^

Happy New Year

Meringue pie

I was invited to a New Year's party (sorry I did not upload this earlier)... Anyway, I made this meringue pie: I layered it with chocolate cream and topped it with fresh strawberries. It was so good. In order to take the cake to the next level, I shaved some white chocolate on top. It was amazing!

Chocolate Orange Meringue Gateau

Irresistible Easter Treat

I made this on Easter Sunday for my lovely family. Shisei and I started cooking at 3pm and it only took us 3 hours to bring heaven on earth!!
This deliciously yummy and irresistible dessert is a must have for Easter.

When we were decorating the cake with chocolate, it reminded us of the TV series MasterChef, when Poh was making her chocolate pipe (and sadly failed). Fortunately, ours turned out alright.

The fact is that we had a lot of fun making it, and we forgot that we had put in so much love (=chocolate), patience (=sugar) and creativity (=cream)!!
