Final dish

Fettuccine with Mussels and Roasted veggies

Sorry guys, I haven't posted anything for so long. I did not get to the top 6. I was very disappointed, my heart was shattered ::>_<:: I haven't been cooking much in the past few months as a result...

The winner of the Home Cook Challenge was announced in the latest issue early this month. When I saw it, I think the winning dish looks delicious (althought I thought I need to taste it to believe that her is better than mine!) She looks very happy too in the photo, holding the Golden Whisk trophy. Good on her for all the afford she put in!!!

I had a great time during the competition anyway. When I was having a break from cooking (a time for my heart to recover!), people from work were looking for morning tea, they were very cute!!! I really need to thank them for all their encouragement and "endurance" with all the taste testing!

W
ell, here is the dish that I made for the final - Fettuccine with Mussels and roasted veggies!

Something that is tasty

Angel hair pasta with salmon and poached eggs

First time I tried the angel hair pasta. It is really delicious. Of course, combining my favourite smoked salmon and rocket. Perfect poached eggs - when the egg yolk ooze out and mix perfectly in the pasta... words can not describe!

Does it make your mouth water?

Home Cook Challenge

Macaroni Cheese

After a stressful afternoon at the pharmacy with a "no reason to be angry customer" and an "uninvited" mouse... I decided to cook away!

I heard of this dish a lot, but I have never really wanted to make it. There is just something about Macaroni...

It was relative easy dish. Boiled the macroni, cut up the broccoli, made the white sauce, stirred in the wholegrain mustard, added in corn and cheese, baked - DONE! Tasty!

Master Pasta

Salmon Ravioli with mushroom tomato sauce

I am in love... in love with my pasta machine!!

I was inspired by the Masterchef to make fresh pasta. (I was addicted!!) I bought the pasta machine for about 4 weeks now and have been make fettuccini and I was wanting to do something different..

Cath bought some smoked salmon and she wanted to have it with pasta. She gave me 2 hours to prepare the dish. So the clock started ticking, "chop, chop"...

With the freshly grown dill in our backyard, I added the dill in the pasta dough to make "dillie" pasta. With a twist, I then made ravioli.

The mushroom tomato sauce: fresh tomato, mushroom, bulb spring onion and garlic.

I left a bit of a mass in the kitchen at the end, but it was ALL FUN and tasty!! The other good news is that I made it in time with 1 minute to spare!!! AWESOMENESS

First time Pasta

Pasta - here I come...

I just bought a pasta machine - WOO HOO..

First time making pasta, it was LONG... it took me almost 2 hours to make 3 serves of pasta - the dough was too sticky and the rolling pin kept falling out, it was exhausting!

At the end I made carbonara, something simple. It was all worth it, the pasta was fresh and well cooked... LOVE IT!!
